DEPF is supervised by the Belgian Authority for Financial Services and Markets (FSMA). FSMA’s task is to supervise the financial markets and pension funds. For example, FSMA ensures good conduct and provision of correct information by the relevant organisations.
FSMA also supervises the sections of Belgian pension funds administering a foreign pension scheme. For this purpose, the FSMA cooperates with the relevant foreign regulatory bodies. For example, FSMA maintains contact with De Nederlandsche Bank (the Dutch Central Bank, DNB) and the Authority for the Financial Markets (AFM) in the Netherlands, in order to ensure that the Dutch pension schemes administered by DEPF comply with the Dutch legislation and regulations.
